The last blog ❤

Finally! It’s the last blog, I’m happy because it means that the semester will end soon and I need that vacation. At first I didn’t like it, because I’m not good writing blog, it’s difficult for me to order my ideas and put them in a text, but I must admit that it has helped me in my writing skills, now it’s easier to write than at the beginning , and my vocabulary is more extensive. It was also fun reading the blogs of my fellow, it’s an interesting way to get to know them all, in English II I didn’t talk too much with my partners and it may sound strange, but I think I met more people this semester, although I have never spoken to any of them personally ٩(˘˘

I would like us to continue doing this in the future, I think it could improve my writing, and write blogs is an efficient and fun way to do it. There is nothing in particular that I would like to write, I like that the topics are quite varied

This is the end!! It was quite nice to take English III with you. Take care and stay home!

Free time

In the last days I haven’t had too much free time, between jobs and tests for which I must study, I have been quite busy. But we always have a time when we want to rest and relax. Normally I like to read, when I start a book I can't stop, that's why I don't do it right now, it distracts me a lot and I don't do my homework jahsja my favorite so far has been “Into the water” by paula Hawkins, I highly recommend it, a book that you should definitely read, I liked that I couldn't predict the end, it was shocking.

Another of my hobbies is to watch series, at the moment I'm watching with my mother "The good doctor", it’s funny and it’s always nice to watch series of doctors, it’s interesting and you learn a lot about diseases, I also usually see "Emergency rooms: unpublished stories" with my cousin. Yes, the series of doctors are great.

Another one of my hobbies is painting, I used to paint with oil in my free time, but I can't do it anymore! (╥︣﹏᷅╥) I don't have enough paints left, and my brushes are quite old, I haven't had a chance to buy more. It's a little sad because paint relax me a lot, now I have to deal with my stress alone.

Cellular physiology

My favorite subject is definitely cellular physiology, I really liked the modality they adopted this semester, in the first half we reviewed all the topics and in this second half we did the seminars, controls and tests. In the beginnig I thought it would be more difficult this subject, because I would forget everything I learned and my evaluations would accumulate. However, this wasn’t the case, and I had the time to study and learn at my own pace. I have quite enjoyed the content of the classes: cell communication, membrane transporters, biological receptors and sensors, membrane potential and some other similar topics.

I like this subject mainly because it helps me understand biological processes and how everything is related to each other, how things happen and why. It’s fun when we’re asked to analyze hypothetical situations to know what would happen if an element within the system is modified or fails.

Tito Ureta

Option 2:

Tito Ureta was born in Iquique, 1935. He was one of the main promoters, diffusers and initiators of experimental Biochemistry in Chile. His first profession was medicine, however, over the years focused on his work in research and experimental work. In 1960 he joined a group with Dr. Hermann Niemeyer, with whom he carried out his thesis on the purification and characterization of the enzyme responsible for glucose phosphorylation in mammalian liver. Throughout his career he described 4 hexokinase isoenzymes and investigated in the field of metabolic regulation in vivo. Later he was president of the Society of Biology (1977 - 1978) and the Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Chile (1983-1984). He worked in our faculty until he passed away.

I admire him mainly because I feel that he did incredible things in a country where science isn’t a priority. In his time biochemistry practically didn’t exist in Chile, and without he perhaps science in our country would not be as we know it today. Tito Ureta makes me feel that I can achieve great things, He drives me to continue studying every time I’m about to give up because I don’t understand my subjects, it’s a great motivator for me.
